The smartest breed, and the hardest to crate correctly
Border collies are widely considered the most intelligent dog breed, and that intelligence is a double-edged sword when it comes to crating. A Border collie without a job will invent one, and the job they invent while crated is usually "escape this crate" or "bark for hours." You cannot manage a Border collie's crate needs with a physical solution; you have to meet the mental and physical needs first.
The 36" crate fits most adults (30–45 lb). Two-point latches are worth it — Borders will absolutely learn how simple latches work if left alone with them long enough.
