Smart, small, non-shedding — and often over-humanized
Toy poodles are 4–6 lb and structurally similar to standard poodles in miniature. They're extremely intelligent and take to crate training fast if you actually do it. The 18" crate is right.
The most common training failure with toy poodles is skipping crate training entirely — they're small enough to carry, small enough to just close in a bathroom, and owners often don't bother with real crate work. The dog then reaches age 2 with no ability to be left alone anywhere without panic. Do the training in the first year.
