GSDs need real crates and real exercise
German shepherds are athletic, high-drive working dogs that span a wide weight range (50–90 lb, sometimes more). Males often noticeably outsize females. The 42" crate suits females and mid-size males; large males need the 48". Measure your specific dog rather than assuming.
This is a breed strong enough and clever enough to defeat weak crates. Buy mid- to heavy-duty wire construction with two-point latching, or expect to replace a cheap collapsible crate within a year. GSDs that develop crate-escape habits are hard to un-train.
